Though I’m not crafting much this holiday season, I have made lots of my holiday decoration.  I’m particularly interested in trees and have made several trees to add to my small (ok, not so small) collection of little Christmas trees.  Here are a few of the ones I have made the past few years.

This first one was an adaptation of Cheeky Magpie’s book page pear.  Mine is of course a book tree.

Here are some paper cone trees made with this tutorial on The Small Object.

I’m also really fond of my button trees:

I’d intended to add to my little tree collection this year with maybe a velvet tree or sequin tree, but alas, I haven’t had the time or inclination.  There’s always next year….

Geez 2010?????? Time keeps rolling on…… Get ready to put away all those boxes and ripped wrapping paper and take a look at something romantic, & classically elegant-sorry its not diamonds but it will shine like one and make you feel all tingly inside. Not feeling that way? No problem! We have another masculine themed kit again but with fun elements that will make you want to head outside and play in the leaves.

Hope you enjoy!

Time of Giving

This time of year I always try to take the time to reflect on those who might not be able to afford any food or gifts. Times are tight for so many every day but imagine waking up as a child on Christmas morning and there is nothing to open or as a parent having no money to buy any gifts for the children-I know your heart breaks with mine but what can we do? The easiest way is to donate-your favorite charity (one that has touched my heart this year is from the radio station KLOVE & Big Daddy Weave band that offers help to military families-check it out Be Brave this Christmas, someone you know (or don’t know) in your community, or to a loved one or friend who is just having a hard time right now. Try your local churches. Most of them will have “giving trees’ in which your donation of food, toys, clothing or gift card will go directly to a family who has asked for help. It doesn’t have to be monetary-Send a note of thanks to a soldier, drop homemade cookies off at your local fire or police department, say a prayer for the less fortunate, volunteer at a soup kitchen or battered women & children’s shelter, have your kids clean out their gently used clothes and toys and donate to Salvation army, clean out your pantry and donate canned goods and non-perishables, and I’m sure once you start brainstorming you will think of many others. It is really cool to get the kids involved too. What a great gift to give our children-teaching them humility and reaching out to others. And if you and your family need help, do not hesitate to ask your local church or organizations-you deserve a break and there are people who want to help you with no strings attached.

May you and your families be blessed this holiday.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not always great about scrapping holiday pages.  I usually do a December daily, but rarely create pages about the holidays for my scrapbooks.  So my challenge to you is to document something about your holidays this week.  You could snap some pictures of your decor, your holiday preperations, baking, etc. Here’s my page:

I used the December mini kit (plus the OA little letters and some Maya mist) to create a quick page about decorating my house.  Remember to post your creations to our challenge gallery to be eligible for our monthly RAK.

Happy Holidays!
